How to Pack for a Week-Long Trip to Dubai

We all have our own versions of necessities and luxuries to travel with. If I say I want to travel to this destination to my sister, I am 100% sure that we both would have a really different image in our minds. Same applies for the way we pack.

I visited Dubai in February. And let me tell you, it is one of THE best months that you can plan to travel to this wonderful country. It was a 5-day trip all organized by TravelTriangle. And here is my detailed list of packing guide for my trip.

Now I am more of a backpack/rucksack person. I really don’t like dragging a suitcase along everywhere. I mean, if you come across a bad terrain, I don’t want to be struggling to hold it in one hand and cribbing all the way. Anyways, so now you know that my guide to pack in a rucksack, let’s dive in.

Rucksack

I have a Wildcraft rucksack (Wildcraft Rock & Ice 40L). Many of my friends said to go for a bigger volume bag. But I don’t feel comfortable carrying something so heavy on my back. Let me tell you, I am a very petite woman. And also, since this one’s only 40L, it is cabin friendly too. No need to wait at the baggage belt anymore. VOILA!!

Essentials & Electronics

I never travel without missing any of these. These are some of the items that I always carry with me no matter what. I have already mentioned a few of the below in my travel tips post. But let’s dive into the ones I carried for this trip to Dubai.

Clothing and Accessories

  • 3 tops
  • 1 shrug
  • 1 pair of jeans
  • 1 pair of shorts
  • 2 dresses
  • 1 set of sleepwear
  • 3 pairs of socks
  • Enough underwear to last a week
  • 1 sunglasses

Shoes

  • 1 pair of flip-flops
  • 1 pair of dress shoes
  • 1 pair of sports shoes (I usually wear them while travelling as they take a lot of space)

Toiletries

  • Sunscreen (A huge must)
  • Toothbrush + Toothpaste
  • 5 Shampoo pouches
  • 1 small soap bar
  • Microfibre towel
  • Sanitary pads
  • Lipstick
  • Compact powder
  • Deodorant

I literally tried my best to recreate the whole packing so that nothing gets left out. But I still felt that I overpacked. This is something that I definitely need to work on more.

I needed to keep some space empty in my bag because I knew I would shop. So, keeping in mind about the souvenirs to buy when coming back is always a must while you pack. I literally bought 5 large packets of chocolates for friends. So, it’s always better to be prepared.

  1. I am also a backpack/rucksack person, so I agree with you in any case! Dubai is on my bucket list already a long time and one day I will definitely go there! This list definitely made me think, that you don’t need to prepare for Dubai 100 different things! Keep it simple because you are not traveling to an uninhabited island! 😉

    1. Exactly Sandra. Mostly women, definitely my sister, always overpack. There are a minimum of 5 items that they don’t even use on the trip. So planning and having a checklist is a good practice.

  2. Very simple and helpful travel things list. Surely we need to to pack very wisely and avoid unnecessary baggage and as you said no need to wait for baggage. Nice post!!

  3. A nice simple packing list for travel. I always try to take the bare minimum now when traveling. It’s so nice to be able to fit everything into a carry on bag these days. Especially with airlines charging so much for checked baggage now. 🙂
