Dhow Cruise

Dhow Cruise experience in Dubai

Dubai is one of the many countries that is a very common holiday destination for Indians. Why wouldn’t it be? There are so many reasons for us to travel to this country. Like Burj Khalifa- the tallest structure in the world, Burj Al Arab- the world’s only 7-star hotel, Ferrari world and so on. In terms of experiences, Dubai offers Desert Safari, Dhow Cruise, Skydiving over The Palm, luxury shopping and so on.

When I visited Dubai, I too enjoyed many of these adventures. Let me share with you my experience of Dhow Cruise on the Dubai Creek. Since my trip was all planned by TravelTriangle, we were scheduled for an evening cruise, which was the best option during any time of the year. Because, well, Dubai is really hot during the day.

We reached at the creek at around 7:30 PM and each of us was handed entry tickets by the driver who dropped us here. Somehow, we were the last ones to arrive. So, the moment we reached, they quickly boarded us and off we went.

Just when we settled, they offered us some fruit juice. I think it was pineapple juice, not quite sure. But whatever, it was yummy. The dhow had two levels. One from where we boarded was an open area with a shed. It overlooked the creek with such wonderful landscape views.

After enjoying the refreshment, we were all asked to go downstairs. Which was all covered with windows and air-conditioned. I actually preferred the top one as we could enjoy the open breeze. Nothing can compare with the fresh air to that of an air-conditioned room. Right?

Anyways, so the reason for gathering everyone downstairs was that there were dinner arrangements here. Also, there were some entertainment shows too. Our host for the night was himself a singer, then we had a magic show arranged and at last, tanoura dance show.

First, our host introduced himself and then handed over the microphone to each and everyone so that we could tell everyone a bit about ourselves. I really liked this interaction as we all would be spending the night together and meeting new people is the best part about travelling. Right?

Then he asked us to go on and start relishing the food as it was already served. There was a variety of food. Like 5 different types of salad, 2 starters, 4 main course items, rice prepared in 2 different styles, a variety of bread and of course, desserts. I don’t know about you, but for me, it was a feast. The food was quite simple, but I guess with someone singing in the background, the food literally was more pleasant.

After everyone got settled again, came the magician. And as expected from a magic show, there were tricks and fun games to be played around. Throughout the night, this engaging the audience was a big yes for me. I feel that is the best way to enjoy any moment.

Anyways, the magician entertained us for about 30 minutes and then it was time for the tanoura dance show. This was going to be our second time to see this form of dance during this Dubai trip. The artist made quite a dramatic show. He came on a boat and hopped on to our dhow right in the middle of the creek. Everyone was literally on the edge of their seats to see if he makes that jump successfully or not.

Surprisingly, he was the same person who performed during our desert safari experience. Guess they get multiple offers from various partners to perform. Whether it’s for a Desert Safari or Dhow Cruise. He took a few minutes to assemble and then the performance started. Even though it was my second time, I was still mesmerized. After the tanoura dance, we headed back to the top level to enjoy the view more clearly.

I just love a fresh breeze. Especially during night time. And when you are on a cruise in the middle of the water, it is much cooler. We hung on the railing of the dhow to get more clearer views. Dubai looks so beautiful at night.

For me, this whole Dhow Cruise experience was quite similar to the desert safari experience. Enjoyed at night, dinner included and also some wonderful performances to enjoy. But it was also quite different for the whole other reason- the terrain. I mean desert safari was in desert and dhow cruise on the water. Nonetheless, both were magical.
