My Plans for This Year – 2021 (and 2020 summary)

Just now as I sat down to start with this post about my plans, I was assured that it would not take much time. And the reason behind this?

COVID-19.

I suppose last year was pretty much similar for everyone. Of course, not exactly the same but quite similar. So how was 2020?

2020 summary

I was staying in Chandigarh during Jan 2020 and had plans to move to Mumbai during Feb end. I was so excited about this as I knew this would of course give me a lot of new places to explore.

Mumbai is a hub.

Everyone knows that. It’s a very happening place. I literally had so many plans written down or you could say places that I decided to travel to every weekend. I didn’t have any friends there yet, so it was a really great opportunity for me to try solo traveling.

For my first month here, I was setting up and trying to get used to my new place. Shopping for necessities, trying some nearby cafes and restaurants, walking around my neighborhood, and similar activities that did not include much planning.

Just as I was about to book for a trek through AirBnB experiences, guess what happened?

Lockdown.

Yupp. There goes my first ever trek downhill. Initially, I didn’t know that COVID-19 would turn out to be a pandemic. But when it did, it was so damn disappointing. I mean just think about it, you go to a new place, all excited to explore, and then you are told to stay put.

Argh!! That frustration. I waited so long for things to get normal. But by the time the restrictions were a bit lifted, I moved to my hometown in West Bengal. And have not stepped outside for the last 5 months.

I am so desperate to go out. So of course, I have already made some plans for this year.

2021 Plans

Even when thinking about this year, I am not increasing my hopes much. Just some short-term plans.

To go in chronological order, I am going to see a few places here in Kolkata tomorrow. I have already explored the food section here in Kolkata but I always wanted to see some unvisited places. And somehow, some work popped for my sister to attend in Kolkata and she asked me to accompany her tomorrow. It really felt like “The Secret” working.

In February, I am planning to visit my friends in Chandigarh. It’s been a year, and I am missing them a hell lot. Since I am working from home nowadays, I guess I will work from some other place for some time. Of course, I will plan a few trips to the hills to see snow.

Post that, a friend of mine is getting married in April. He is from Bihar. So, well, I have an official invitation to visit Bihar now. I have wanted to visit Bodh Gaya for a long time. This seems to be my perfect opportunity to visit and explore this not so visited state in India.

Now, these are my travel plans that I feel will definitely follow if situations here in India are fine by then. I really cannot be sure of how the COVID-19 situation will be. So, fingers crossed.

Further, in the year, I am planning to visit Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Oh, it’s so beautiful. So serene. So majestic.

I want to take my parents with me as it has been one of the bucket list destinations for my mother. So, while we are all together here, why not travel together?

That’s it for now. Hope I get to fulfill at least some of them, if not all.

Hope you also fulfill your wishes for this year and make many more wonderful memories.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

  1. All of us are holding on with 2021. However here in Cyprus, we have a lockdown till the end of January. Really hoping that things will pick up very soon. Take care and Be safe!

  2. I think it’s totally okay to have long term goals as well, just to know that things may change. Short term goals are exciting because they are something to look forward to on a smaller time frame. I hope you have a great 2021!

  3. We’re right there with you! 2020 has certainly been an interesting year and has paused all of our travel plans too (we were suppose to go back to France and was planning a Mexico trip).

Hope you get to see all your friends this year!
